Last Friday, I shot Zhi and Evan's wedding in Superior. I will repeat what I wrote on facebook as I left the reception because it totally summed up how I felt-
Was very touched by a wedding I photographed today. These people really are very open, warm, and spiritual. I wish them all the best and know that we will become close friends.
The ceremony was
different for a few reasons. For one, it was cold and misty. The mist
was coming from a fountain nearby that everyone glared at several times
wishing their stares could magically turn it off. Thank goodness I had
my 85mm with the lens hood as it shielded the mist nicely. Second, it
encompassed many of the different traditions they both value, and also some additional hilarious traditions they threw
in to appease everyone and to be amusing. Third, Evan's vows were
awesome and definitely got to me... yeah, I definitely had to take a few
deep breaths and get back to shooting. I don't always cry at weddings,
but when I do, it's always the groom that gets me.
These two were great and it was inspiring to see a wedding come together nicely with frugal planning. I wish them all the best, and look forward to another yoga sesh from Zhi or getting my butt kicked on a run with Evan.
