Samantha and Alex's Mayflower Gulch Adventure Engagement Session

These two are awesome and tough. Maybe not the most prepared, but tough!

I met Alex and Samantha in Boulder and we drove up to Mayflower Gulch in the early morning on a beautiful day in the mountains. They rented snowshoes, which they had never done before, and I sported a borrowed snowshoe setup. We hiked up near to the mines but found the untouched powder beauty perfect for photos and popping some champagne.

I don't have the best circulation in my fingers so I was cold, but prepared with some good gloves. These two toughed out some super cold conditions and getting their hands wet all in the name of great photos. I couldn't believe how good spirited they were when we were in the shade and it was 20 degrees.

On the drive to and from the trailhead, I loved hearing about the beginnings of their relationship. The story how Alex brought Samantha flowers on their first date was especially touching. Samantha's dad who unfortunately passed away had always said the guy who she would marry would bring her flowers because she was worth it. Their first date they went out for dinner, closed the place down, and then talked all night. The connection was there immediately and I could feel it during our excursion. They enjoy adventure and travel, so after this, they were planning a short Vegas trip for the weekend... maybe even driving through the night to make it happen.

In the same vein of our snowy adventure, they've planned an awesome wedding north of Vail among the Gore Mountain Range at Piney River Ranch in June north of Vail. I can't wait to be a part of it. Thanks guys, it was such a fun day!
